Naomi Novik, Uprooted -- I bought this book while sitting on the tarmac during boarding attempt #2 (I think) of my flight to Japan, because I didn't have anything I was passionate about reading at the moment and I felt like I deserved it after the nonsense with the flight (sweet summer child, etc. -- the nonsense was only starting, of course). 11. Naomi Novik, Crucible of Gold -- I really liked it! It might actually be my third favorite, after VoE and HMD, and thus my favorite of the books not taking place in England. ( Major spoilers )

40. Brenna Yovanoff, The Replacement -- an interesting and unusual take on the "urban fantasy with fairies" genre I really enjoy. This one's even darker than the Tithe and Wicked Lovely universes, although it does get a sort of happy ending after the darkness. ( MAJOR SPOILERS )
